Angel's Promenade

or Angels Road as is referred to locally, is a sandbar that connects Shodoshima, and Yoshima Island off the coast, the beautiful sandy road only appears at low tide and is said to bless couples who walk across hand-in-hand.

Nikobuchi waterfall

Is a waterfall basin nestled in the upper reaches of the Niyodo River, and in recent years, it has gained fame as a picturesque spot dubbed 'Niyodo Blue.'

It holds significance as a spiritual power spot, where one can deeply connect with the natural energy it embodies. To the locals, Nikobuchi represents more than its scenic appeal. It's revered as the dwelling of a giant snake, a water deity, and holds sacred status. Hence, visitors are kindly urged to maintain silence and show utmost respect when exploring this revered site.

Zenigata Sunae 

Adorning the white sands of Ariake Beach in Kanonji City, Kagawa Prefecture, is renowned as a power spot believed to enhance one's financial fortune. According to legend, 'those who lay eyes on this zenigata will enjoy robust health, longevity, and a life free from financial woes.'

This immense sand artwork replicates the Kan'ei Tsuho, an ancient coin from the Edo period, and remains within a restricted area. However, a panoramic view of the entire creation is accessible from the mountaintop observation deck nestled within Kotohira Park. Each night, the artwork is illuminated in a captivating green hue, bestowing upon the surroundings a magical ambiance. Depending on the season, the illumination might showcase hues of gold or blue.

The Kankakei Gorge

Is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty located on the island of Shōdo-shima, is part of the Setonaikai National Park. Rising to a height of 812 meters, the gorge is celebrated for its breathtaking vistas and is renowned for its Japanese maple trees. Celebrating nearly 60 years, the Sakaide Ohashi Festival is the biggest festival in the prefecture its held over a week, the many events featuring parades, dance performances, street food, and culminating with a fireworks display.

What to Eat

Sanuki Udon stands as the official dish of Kagawa. Its defining features include a square shape, flat edges, and a delightfully chewy texture. Traditionally, it's served alongside a broth made from Niboshi, dried young sardines. Numerous udon shops specialize solely in Sanuki-style udon, offering an experience that's truly worth indulging in.
