The new Titleist Drivers have been released in Japan -And International Interest Is Already Building...
Yes, Japanese golfers have officially received their first look at the new Titleist GTS driver lineup today, with the company confirming a June 11 release date in Japan and early online sales beginning today, May 15. While the release itself is significant, what’s especially interesting is the level of anticipation already coming from international golfers planning trips to Japan.
We at Golf In Japan have already received inquiries from overseas players asking about fittings, shaft options, and whether clubs can be prepared before they arrive in the country. That interest makes sense. Japan has long been one of the most exciting markets in the world for custom golf equipment, and the arrival of the new GTS series only adds to that appeal.
The Line up
The new lineup includes the GTS2, GTS3, and GTS4 models — each designed with a different player profile in mind, but all built around Titleist’s “total performance” philosophy. Rather than chasing one headline number, the company says the focus has been on balancing ball speed, forgiveness, spin consistency, adjustability, sound, and feel.
One of the key talking points is the new Split Mass Frame construction paired with a full Thermoform body using Titleist’s proprietary matrix polymer material. In simpler terms, the design allows weight to be repositioned more effectively both low and forward and deep in the head, aiming to improve launch conditions while maintaining stability and forgiveness.
The new “Speed Sync Face” also looks to be a major evolution. According to Titleist, the face structure has been redesigned to maintain ball speed more consistently across the hitting area, particularly on high-face strikes that stronger players often produce.
Aerodynamics have also been refined, especially in the GTS2 and GTS3 shapes, with reshaped trailing sections intended to improve airflow and clubhead speed without compromising center-of-gravity positioning.
The three models each target slightly different golfers:
- GTS2 focuses on high stability and speed with a confidence-inspiring profile and mid-spin launch characteristics.
- GTS3 offers a more compact, workable shape aimed at players wanting tighter trajectory control and reduced spin.
- GTS4 is the lowest spinning model in the lineup and has grown to a 460cc head for added forgiveness compared to previous “4” models.
What may make the Japanese release especially attractive for visiting golfers, however, is not only the head technology, but the fitting environment around it.
English Fitting In Japan
Japan remains one of the best places in the world for premium shaft selection, with access to combinations and aftermarket options that are often difficult to test internationally. With shafts like the Graphite Design Tour AD series and multiple Mitsubishi TENSEI profiles available from launch, golfers traveling to Japan have the opportunity to build highly personalized setups.
For many visitors, the added advantage is that English-language fittings are available, and purchases can often be made tax-free for eligible international travelers. That combination of premium fitting access, extensive shaft options, and tax-free purchasing is likely to make the GTS release extremely popular among inbound golf travelers this season.
Fittings are available in English through official Titleist Japan fitting locations and partner golf stores across Japan. For golfers who already know their specifications, it is also possible in many cases to arrange builds ahead of arrival so clubs can be ready for your Japan golf game.
